As of June 1, 2019, any person flying a drone outside in Canada which weighs more than 250g requires a pilot certification.  There are two categories of certifications: Basic and Advanced.  BASIC is for flying in un-controlled airspace and more than 30m from bystanders.  ADVANCED is for flying within controlled airspace, and closer than 30M from bystanders.

Use the flow chart below to find out which regulatory category you fall into.  The left side of the chart is for BASIC operations, and the right side is for ADVANCED operations.  The red boxes represent Coastal Drone online courses, which will prepare you to pass your exams and become certified!
