Circle a fixed subject while keeping it centred, which requires coordinated roll and yaw. Orbits communicate three-dimensional form better than any other move. Fly them slowly and keep the radius constant, since a wobbling orbit is immediately obvious.
The Top-Down Push
Point the gimbal straight down and translate slowly across a subject with strong graphic structure. Coastlines, road networks, and agricultural land all work well. Because the perspective is unfamiliar, even simple movement holds attention.
The Pull-Back
Start tight on your subject and fly backward and upward, revealing surrounding context. This move ends sequences naturally, which makes it a reliable closing shot.
Whichever move you fly, start recording two seconds before the movement begins and keep rolling two seconds after it ends. Those handles give your editor clean cut points, and running out of them is a mistake you can only fix by reflying.
Stabilisation
Stabilisation is one of the drone video essentials you cannot fully fix later.
